As we near the end of Women’s History Month, I’d like to acknowledge three historically important ladies I know from Women in Aviation International. They are (left to right):
Colonel Kathy Cosand (Ret) was the first Reservist female to enter the AF Undergraduate Pilot Training Program. Of the many firsts in her 30-year career, were first female aviator qualified in the C-141 and the first female to earn the Air Medal after a mission to Zaire.
Major General Jeannie Leavitt is the Air Force Chief of Safety, Headquarters US Air Force, Arlington VA and Commander, Air Force Safety Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. She has served for 30 years in various flying, staff, and command assignments and has commanded at the flight, squadron, and wing level.
Brigadier General Regina Sabric is the Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Headquarters US Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, VA. She is responsible for formulating policy supporting air, space, cyberspace, irregular warfare, counter-proliferation, homeland security, and weather operations. During her 27-year career, she has been active duty and Reservist, flying combat and combat support missions.
